About the role

Investment involves defining our long term, global investment strategy, and establishing and maintaining strong and mutually profitable relationships with our suppliers which deliver on that strategy and creating the environment and framework within which Essence will get the best value (best quality and lowest price) from our suppliers.

To be the investment lead across key strategic suppliers and help evolve the department processes.


Some of the things we'd like you to do:

  • Understand the digital marketplace through meeting with all suppliers in the market, identifying their strengths or weaknesses. 
  • Build relationships with key suppliers, to ensure the perfect communication flow is in place; increasing opportunities, reducing conflicts and ensuring best service and price
  • Take responsibility for development of all strategic partnerships with media suppliers
  • Negotiate competitive media rates, value added deals and packages for all teams across agencies.
  • Attend conferences and industry events to ensure you handle the latest information and trends of the market. Make yourself known in the industry circles to increase Essence self-awareness in the market

Following are the role and responsibilities : 


  • Lead JBP discussions with regional publishing partners
  • In-put into global JBP discussions with the US team
  • Maintain accurate management of savings tracker
  • Ensure all investment records are maintained for audit best practice
  • Ensure Essence are achieving best in class rates through benchmarking
  • Integration and point of contact with GroupM trading
  • Manage the Singapore buying team 
  • Provide offnet  best practice to Planning & Buying team
  • Develop QA best practice 
  • Rate benchmarking 
  • Work closely with finance on rebates actualisation
  • Deal reconciliation 

A bit about yourself:

  • A passion for all things digital - a strong understanding of industry trends and a thirst to drive (instead of just follow) digital innovations
  • A strong commercial negotiator - able to gauge good value for our clients and influence senior people within large media companies to deliver it
  • An ability to develop strong external and internal relationships, with a proactive and collaborative approach to working with people.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to motivate and develop staff and delegate effectively
  • Experience identifying opportunities for organizational/process/system improvements and supporting the development of robust solutions to realize them
