Overview

Mindshare is an agency of GroupM, the world’s largest media investment company and are a part of WPP. We are currently looking for a Manager eCommerce Strategy to join us.

The proliferation of online shopping and commerce landing destinations presents an exciting opportunity for Mindshare. The key opportunity for the Head of E-Commerce is to bring strategic expertise and experience to craft E-Comm solutions as a key offering and differentiator for Mindshare.

The Manager eCommerce Strategy will be part of a dedicated Commerce team, to develop outcome based ready media strategies for Brand Experience Toolkits (BETs). As well as work with the local markets to guide local implementation and share best practice and learning. The role will leverage search data and insight to inform and enrich global media strategies and ensure that we reflect the most relevant strategies across the holistic search landscape, including Paid, Natural and e-Commerce search platforms.

  • Contribute to develop and execute the vision and strategy to continue to build and grow Commerce for Unilever brands
  • Own and cascade our world class frameworks and systems. Contribute with new ideas, creativity, and insights across all media (digital, in-store and experiential)
  • Develop reporting and forecasting modules to show positive ROAS which can then be implemented across all brands
  • Be a member of the subject matter expert team on regional/local marketplaces in APAC in terms of their positioning, audience and marketing capabilities
  • Key day to day search strategy contact for Unilever Global Brand and Media Teams as well as relevant agency partners,
  • Build relationships with local market search leads to ensure that global strategy imperatives are implemented and actioned on a local level, and report successes/barriers back to central stakeholders
  • Develop knowledge of, and implement applicable search insight and planning tools, including GroupM proprietary tools, syndicated services and publicly available data
  • Contribute to the team for all commerce related strategic work streams as part of client briefs and existing engagements.
  • Active participation in overall commerce product and solutions development to provide full-funnel visibility to brands and media stakeholders

Measures of Success

3 months : Take over, Assess status, Establish actions

  • Learn, learn, learn – the Unilever business has its own language and grammar. Study the brands, their personalities, their purpose, their history and their ambition.
  • Shadow the existing teams in client meetings with the single-minded agenda of understanding deeply the client’s goals and objectives
  • Clients should start seeing you as keen, observant and willing to learn
  • Learn the tools of the trade- Deep dive into the tools on planning, insighting and data mining
  • Start imagining and penning what success looks like by brand – everyone wants a winning story
  • Have an auditor’s hat on – identify areas where the existing tools & processes can improve

6 months : Early Actions

  • You have knowledge of the commerce ambitions, consumers and brand language. You are now ready to reimagine the current commerce offering within the plannin product and suggest improvement to our performance execution, and are prototyping your new thinking on a few brands
  • You are able to fuse commerce data, consumer insights, brand objective and creative that sells into brilliant and simple stories (brilliant consumer commerce experiences)
  • Global marketing and media heads have by now noticed you by your work landing at their desk
  • You are imagining a future view of what commerce media looks like 1-3 years from now and future proofing the business to continue building brilliant commerce experiences
  • All tools and stories created would have a local market landing lens keeping market context in mind
  • You are able to join hands with the execution and content teams to spark new ideas. They are your partners, leverage their domain expertise for fluid and dynamic content creation

9 months : 2021 and Beyond

  • Your work is being entered for awards and is being talked about by the global marketing, media and brand communities
  • Your work has been outcome driven, brands are seeing the impact of your plans on their market metrics
  • You have reimagined and evolved the commerce product and solutions from Mindshare

What your day job looks like at Mindshare:

  • You sit in the client office* and visit clients and are constantly engaged with WPP agencies, partners and clients through the data
  • At any given time, you are drawn between brand work for clients or product development or partner meetings. Partners could be from the online, content or measurement world

  • Get earphones*, you will be working with a lot of cross-country teams – great work happens in markets too – learn and scale – we win as a team
  • Handling senior client relationships on a daily basis other than clients across all work levels

What You Will Need

This role requires someone with strong Performance capabilities and an ability to deliver across teams and markets. The ideal candidate will have built and led a breakthrough digital commerce business successfully leveraging new digital sales and marketing tactics, and possess deep knowledge and experience in all strategic, business, operational, and technological functions that make up the digital commerce ecosystem.

This role is heavy in both strategy and execution – this is a defining characteristic of our agency where our leaders do and think in equal measure. This person and role is the very embodiment of our values of Speed, Provocation and Teamwork as this role is required to work across multiple stakeholders, influence and champion the new and to do it with speed and scale.

The job holder will be expected to have:-

Core skills

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in digital marketing, most of which in the retail/FMCG industry with prior experience working with market places or multi-brand sites such as Lazada, Shopee, or any other online business partners
  • Strong performance marketing experience. Proven ability to work with data to understand and analyze performance, optimize plans, drive decisions, and measure impact to the business
  • Superior analytical skills and the ability to leverage performance data and convert consumer insights and trend data into high impact marketing initiatives
  • Experience in a rigorous testing environment. Must be passionate about presenting a fact-based argument and be results/metrics driven.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate or Post Grad in Marketing / Economics or related field
  • Worked in a communication planning role
  • 4+ years of work experience

*as per pre-COVID pandemic working in co-location at client office with reat of the team.

Your Team
You will manage E-commerce strategy and consultancy and operate in a matrix structure where your indirect team will comprise of Search, Social, Programmatic specialists embedded in the client teams and/or GroupM Services
