GroupM is the world’s largest media investment company and is a part of WPP. In fact, we are responsible for one in every three ads you see globally. We are currently looking for a talented and creative data scientist to help build the effectiveness practice. This is a high-impact position where your analysis and interpretation of results informs decisions affecting millions of consumers.

The role covers a broad range of subject areas, with a unique opportunity of performing data and analytics research overall data available from a campaign (by consolidating social media data, search data, display data, TV data, CRM data, etc.), from client business data, external data indicators to derive trends, and aid solutions basis business outcome

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the Chief Strategy Officer

Measures of success –
In three months, you should have

  • Internalized the vision, objectives, and outcomes of this practice
  • Understood the business and the data landscape for a key client of Motivator
  • Developed a working relationship with external and internal partners as well as teams
  • Internalized the multiple data sources available to the agency and its clients

In six months, you should have

  • Developed data solutions and presented to at least 3 clients
  • Applied analytics to new business pitches
  • In the process of independently managing existing projects

In 12 months,

  • Developed at least 6-7 data and analytics projects for clients
  • Driven closure of analytics revenue for Motivator
  • Identified more partners to work with
  • Done at least 2 developmental projects not related to the client but which contributes to Motivator’s measurement capability

 What your day job looks like at GroupM:

  • To set up the data and analytics practice for Motivator
  • Work closely with the strategy and business teams to devise business outcome-based solutions using data and analytics
  • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how the users interact with the client’s core/business products
  • Perform data analysis to inform a broad range of decisions about the products and marketing, including some of the most impactful questions facing the business.

What you’ll bring:

  • Help understand user behaviour by effectively mining and modelling first-party user data, preferences, and perceptions by conducting user research or analyzing user data.
  • Build predictive models; design, conduct, and analyze surveys and experiments; and conduct other analyses to answer strategic or operational questions.
  • Help clients, as well as Motivator, make better use of data by extracting and making it easy to access the most actionable intelligence that can be derived from it.
  • To develop new frameworks and models as Motivator proprietary products
  • This role is a mix of strategic as well as hands-on work.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 8+ years relevant experience with a proven track record of leveraging analytics to drive significant business impact
  • A degree in statistics is preferred
  • Strong understanding of business and using analytics to drive business growth
  • Strong programming skills and a proven ability to learn new programming languages
  • Strong data visualizations skills to convey information and result clearly
  • Proficiency with a statistical analysis tool such as SQL for extracting and structuring data, Proficiency in the use of Python or R, SAS for processing and analyzing data.
  • Experience with building, applying, and evaluating predictive models.
  • Experience in the use of data mining and exploratory analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and drive your own projects
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, driven, agile and collaborative mindset
