As E-commerce Business Group Director, you will be responsible for developing the highly dynamic E-Commerce practice of Wavemaker.  WM’s E-commerce services will cover the broad pillars of business & marketing strategy, performance media, creative and in-store content development, data analytics, and reporting; but these will vary depending on client needs.

Your role will be focused on helping WM clients develop and implement their E-Commerce strategic plans and campaigns in order for clients to achieve their E-Commerce business ambitions.  You will be expected to work closely with the established E-commerce platforms and other relevant partners who will be key to our success.

You are expected to have had hands-on experience in setting up and running or supervising similar E-commerce or Performance Marketing capabilities previously. A reasonable understanding of the nuances of the Philippines market and consumer behavior would be ideal. Experience with performance marketing is a key requirement.

You will also be expected to leverage your knowledge of the E-commerce industry to provide market intelligence, plan the evolution of the offering and identify key talent as our practice grows.

You will work closely with the Precision Activation teams to ensure deployment excellence in digital campaign executions on self-serve ad platforms while monitoring and optimizing these campaigns to deliver the campaign KPIs and objectives stated in the media plans.

This role reports to the Managing Partner and Chief Product Officer at Wavemaker, Philippines

Measures of success: 

In three months:

  • To establish your leadership stance among key stakeholders both on the client and agency side
  • Gained a full understanding of the clients' business along with the internal and external process
  • To translate the client’s needs into clear direction and leadership for all Wavemaker and GroupM resources working on the account
  • To become completely familiar with the client’s E-Commerce strategy and plans, planning process, the marketing calendar, and the needs of key stakeholders

In six months:

  • Reviewed and refined the agency’s E-Commerce planning framework, while constantly proposing strategies to optimize E-commerce campaigns to reach their full potential (i.e. GMV and ROAS targets)
  • Further developed local relationships across the agencies and with key E-Commerce platform partners
  • Effectively participated in pitches for business development

In 12 months:

  • Developed a roadmap for the next 1 to 3 years for the e-commerce business including resource planning
  • A firm grasp of all E-Commerce On and Off platform solutions – both from WM/GroupM and with our E-Commerce Platform Partners
  • Become the ‘spokesperson’ for the practice has participated in external events to help build the profile of Wavemaker’s E-commerce capabilities
Responsibilities of the Role:
  • Lead, manage and coach the E-commerce discipline, oversee E-commerce revenue targets across multiple service pillars
  • Lead the overall strategic approach for E-Commerce on the account/s designed and delivered to meet client’s business objectives and strategies
  • Build client satisfaction by soliciting feedback and operating as a consultant
  • Identify suitable internal or external talent for the different E-commerce pillars as the business grows
  • Build strong relationships with internal and client stakeholders, identifying and facilitating synergy across GroupM agencies and within WPP. Leverage existing data and tech capabilities of [m]PLATFORM.
  • Build strong relationships with key E-com platforms (working with the SEA E-com leads) to understand their respective platform specifics and possibilities for our client
  • Be the public face of Wavemaker PH for E-commerce practice – to the industry, to E-com platforms and tech partners, and internally within WPP and the GroupM agencies
