Job Summary:

AxiaTP is seeking a Network Engineer to keep clients’ networks up to date with the latest technology. This role is responsible for implementing, monitoring and managing the local and wide area networks of an organization to ensure maximum uptime for users. The candidate will have the ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly, work across multiple teams, and enjoys engaging and influencing others.

The Network Engineer will work as part of a pod to establish and maintain network performance for clients by building net configurations and connections, as well as troubleshoot network problems. Successful candidates will have strong customer service skills, enjoys working with others to solve problems and takes a hands-on approach to their work.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Implementing new network solutions and improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment, including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
  • Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
  • Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Arranging scheduled upgrades
  • Investigating faults in the network, providing level 2 and 3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
  • Reporting network status to key stakeholders
  • Performing network maintenance and systems upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
  • Monitoring performance and ensuring system availability and reliability
  • Monitoring system resource utilization, trending and capacity planning
  • Working within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Selecting and implementing security tools, policies and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
  • Acts as the liaison with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training or work experience
  • Proven hands-on network engineering experience, including monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued)
  • Deep understanding of network protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
  • High energy and drive with good negotiation skills
  • Proficient with general Office suite application
  • Strong organizational, presentation, time management and customer service skills
  • Skilled in preparing written communications and materials
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including telephony skills, communication skills, active listening and customer care
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with additional languages a plus
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and across multiple functions and disciplines
  • Ability to understand and apply analytical and statistic tools
  • Results-oriented with strong process and execution skills
  • Ability to travel to customer locations, as needed
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Cisco Unified Wireless, including configuration of wireless LAN controllers
  • Previous experience working for a managed services provider
