Job Summary

The Senior Statistical Reporting Specialist is responsible for overseeing statistical data reporting to the various statistical data collection organizations within required timeframes and according to the specifications set forth for reporting.

 

Main Accountabilities
  • Effectively extracts/collects, prepares and submits data to statistical data collection organizations such as National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), The Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California (WCIRB), and Insurance Services Office (ISO), etc., according to the timelines and requirements set forth in the various statistical data plans
  • Responds to edits, criticisms, and inquiries from the statistical organizations according to the timelines required
  • Extracts, prepares, and provides data required for regulatory reporting to the Compliance department
  • Acts as a subject matter expert
    • Respond to internal inquiries regarding statistical reporting rules in a timely manner
    • Provide requirements to Operations, IT for collecting, developing, and/or mapping fields for statistical reporting
  • Designs, develops, and implements effective processes, reports, and other tools to report data and improve data quality
  • Identifies and recommends changes to data collection, systems, and/or processes to comply with reporting requirements
  • Proactively monitors and stays current with statistical data plans, manuals, data requirements, and regulatory reporting items; communicate impactful changes to others in the organization as necessary
  • Identifies opportunities and recommends data and reporting initiatives that support corporate strategic plans, goals, and objectives related to regulatory reporting.
  • Investigates and uses pre-editing programs to identify and resolve errors prior to submission to regulatory reporting bureaus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business accounting or finance, or similar, from a four-year college or university, or equivalent business experience required
  • 8+ years experience in a technical position in a statistical or financial reporting area
  • 3+ years of Workers Compensation insurance experience preferred
  • There is a high level of decision making in this position.  The Statistical Data Reporting Manager is expected to compile reports with independence, and must demonstrate thorough research, logical approaches, and good judgment in making decisions in this position.

  • Ability to multitask and work in an environment imposed by stringent reporting deadlines
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, demonstrating both strong written and oral communication skills
  • Keen professional interpersonal skills required for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, management, and external regulatory bureaus
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft products, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel required; proficiency in SQL highly desirable.
