Job Summary:

The Accountant will be responsible for compiling and preparing internal/external financial data and oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Prepare monthly journal entry postings (including interfaces) as directed.
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations as directed.
  • Assist Controller in preparation of annual actuary review.
  • Prepare and process (with Controller approval) any government filings (i.e. 1099s) within set deadlines. This includes maintaining the proper supporting documentation (i.e. W9s) to support the filings.
  • Process manual payments as directed by Controller or CFO.
  • Maintain assigned bank reconciliation on a current basis. Report any variances immediately to Controller.
  • Complete cash flow analysis, as directed.
  • Scan/copy/process all daily/monthly/quarterly/annual reports for the accounting department as directed.
  • Assist with regulatory filings as directed.
  • Update and maintain the Company’s fixed asset schedules.
  • Review the work product of the accounting personnel for accuracy as directed by the Controller.
  • Assist in training of departmental support staff.
  • Make all necessary changes to postings in accounts payable as directed by the Controller.
  • Interact with other company departments in a professional manner.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Controller.


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in increasingly responsible accounting roles.
  • Insurance industry experience a plus.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interaction skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
