Position Summary:

The Senior Manager/Associate Director, Financial Planning & Analysis will be responsible for managing the financial planning and analysis activities for Gritstone, with an emphasis on the clinical development team. This individual will be an integral part of the Finance organization and will interact extensively with other members of the Accounting and Development organization.

The primary role of the Senior Manager/Associate Director, Financial Planning & Analysis will be providing budget, forecast, and long-range planning support and managing month-end close.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Support the preparation of the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and long-range plans.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly budget vs. actual reporting to track key financial and performance metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with the Clinical Development team (as well as external vendors as needed) to maintain clinical trial models, incorporating updates in clinical assumptions, contracts, business results, protocol amendments and change orders.
  • Work closely with Accounting on the month end and quarter end close processes, including accruals, audit requirements, etc. Ensure high quality of accruals with attention to detail, robustness, and accuracy of calculations.
  • Review vendor/CRO contracts to ensure alignment with the annual budget.
  • Ad hoc analysis and other projects as assigned
Requirements: Minimum Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance/accounting, or related field
  • 4-6+ years of relevant industry experience; experience with CRO sponsored clinical trials, clinical trial accounting/analysis preferred
Qualifications: 
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt and work in a quickly changing environment, managing competing demands.
  • Self-motivated, self-disciplined and able to function independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strategic agility, strong critical and logical thinking with ability to analyze problems
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Excellent presentation and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Strong systems experience, knowledge of NetSuite and Adaptive a plus
