Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Alliance and Project Management will oversee and direct the alliance management and project management activities for the organization. The individual will lead and manage a small team of AM/PM staff that will maintain the relationship of our external partners as well as support project team operations and strategy alignment with agreed upon budget and timelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing, developing, and leading a team of Project/Alliance Managers
  • With the support of staff, oversee strategic partnerships by leading cross-functional activities to ensure collaboration programs meet defined milestones, with a focus on service quality, resource management and relationship management
  • Work with internal stakeholders (legal, business development, finance, and executive team) as well as external alliance partners to set the direction and scope for implementation of the partnership agreements
  • Serve as a central point of contact between functional areas within Gritstone bio bridging across partnership alliances
  • Facilitate or direct staff at key meetings (e.g., sub-teams, alliance teams), prepare agendas, facilitate discussions, prepare minutes, and follow up on action items
  • Oversee the governance of the partnership agreement including participating in governance committees and subteam meetings
  • In coordination with Finance and Business Development, ensure key contract milestones, financial and progress reports are generated and submitted on time
  • Manages the negotiation of amendments with current partners to align with evolving business needs
  • Ensure alignment of objectives, plans, and activities across the project team and the various related project sub-teams (e.g., Clinical, CMC, Regulatory, etc.)
  • Support the project team and project team leader in making complex cross-functional recommendations / decisions (e.g., data collection, scenario planning, risk assessment, setting strategic priorities)
  • Maintain close familiarity with operational aspects of the program(s) and produce documents and visual tools to facilitate project tracking (e.g., decision and action logs, planning trackers, Gantt charts / timelines, budgets)
  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders on the project team and beyond
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor of Science required. Masters or PhD in a scientific discipline, or other advanced degree, highly preferred
  • Certification or professional training in project management preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in a Biotech or Pharmaceutical organization with a minimum of 5 years in drug development, including alliance management and/or project management experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing direct reports
  • Working knowledge of overall drug development process and roles for the various functional areas within a biotech/pharmaceutical company
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, good conflict management skills
  • Excellent analytical skills, with an ability to communicate complex issues
  • Demonstrate ability to translate strategy into action, strong influence, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proven track record of good decision making and exercising sound judgment.

  • Proven experience using Project Management software to manage complex project timelines and resources
