The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all warehousing, distribution, and fulfillment operations within our Greenpoint footprint supply chain with the main purpose of developing and implementing strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and drive operational excellence.
The person will report to the Senior operations Manager and shall be responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping. The role’s primary focus will be on maximizing productivity, streamlining processes, and optimizing the use of resources to achieve operational excellence. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of warehouse operations, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

  • Warehouse Operations Management:
    • Oversee multiple wholesale warehouse operations through direct report of talented pool of employees, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards, while keeping in mind that safety in all aspects of our operations is at the forefront of our responsibilities.
    • Optimize warehouse layout, space utilization, and material flow to maximize efficiency and minimize errors.
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline processes and enhance productivity within the warehouses spread throughout Greenpoint’s footprint.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Develop and implement inventory control strategies to ensure accurate stock levels and minimize stockouts or overstock situations.
    • Implement cycle counting and periodic physical inventory processes to maintain inventory accuracy and integrity.
    • Collaborate with Senior leadership in operations and other cross-functional teams to forecast demand and ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained.
  • Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify areas for process improvement within the warehouses, including automation opportunities and workflow enhancements.
    • Analyze operational data, such as order fulfillment metrics and cycle times, to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions.
    • Lead and facilitate lean initiatives, such as 5S, Kaizen, or Six Sigma projects, to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Manage and develop a high-performing warehouse operations team, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
    • Establish clear goals and performance metrics for the team and provide regular performance evaluations.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including logistics, procurement, and customer service, to ensure smooth coordination of warehouse operations.
    • Partner with suppliers and carriers to optimize inbound and outbound logistics and maintain strong relationships.
    • Engage with senior management to provide operational updates, performance reports, and recommendations for improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 7 or more years of related experience working in a wholesale/retail business, preferably agricultural environment with proven track record of at least 5 years in warehouse operations management, with a focus on operational excellence and process improvement.
  • Extensive experience implementing lean methodologies, such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control, and best practices in warehouse operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex operational challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices in warehousing and supply chain management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex operational challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and with external contacts.
  • Experience working with large groups of employees spread across multiple regional sites across a broad geographical area.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety requirements related to warehouse operations.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to analyze data and technical requirements.
  • Strong proficiency and practical experience using Power-BI, SAP, Oracle, or any other ERP system. Proficient with MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting; however, this position will also require frequent travel and visits to agricultural, warehouse, and industrial environments. 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods and the use of hands to finger is common. No heavy lifting is expected. While performing the duties of this job, good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, and copiers is needed.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and talk or hear.  Vision requirements relate to ability reading/using computer.  When visiting off-site locations, proper use of PPE is required.
