Motion Industries is seeking an experienced manager to lead in the development of our Hazmat and Item Compliance program. This individual will be comfortable driving compliance using data to engage and teach a class to properly identify and ship hazardous materials. This candidate will exhibit leadership qualities, an eye for detail, and embody the Motion Industries’ values.  


  • Coordinate item compliance activities to ensure the company’s continued compliance with regulatory and hazardous materials requirements
  • Drive automation efforts that promote expeditious and accurate compliance definitions for the entire Motion Industries item database
  • Establish and execute a training plan in accordance with company policies and statutory requirements to establish new employee Hazmat certification as well as the maintenance of certification for existing team members
  • Work with Supply Chain and IT managers to identify and support all related functional areas effected by various item related regulatory requirements
  • Ensure document control and record retention measures are maintained throughout the organization
  • Establish and report on KPIs to management
  • Work with vendor and customer agents as required to ensure objectives are achieved
  • Work with internal customers to support the successful execution of Compliance and Hazmat initiatives


  • Proven ability to adapt quickly and drive the desired results through the application of data analytics
  • Ability to build consensus and establish strong business relationships within an organization
  • Possess a strong sense of fairness, ethics, inclusion, and commitment
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in wholesale industrial distribution
  • Bachelor degree; preferably in a related field
  • Hazmat and related compliance certifications a plus
  • Ability to travel
  • Able to organize multiple activities and projects in a fast paced environment of dynamic priorities
