Summary:  Administer company policies and programs in accordance with the company’s direction.  The major functions are, recruitment & selection, benefits, workers’ compensation, unemployment, attendance administration, and FMLA administration.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assures administration and compliance with company policies
  • Directs employment activities, assuring that properly qualified employees are recruited, interviewed and hired for company positions using our ATS.  Oversees background checks and drug testing.
  • Manages payroll and position management and other payroll related tasks within PeopleSoft and Kronos.
  • Coordinates and participates with management and plant supervision in disciplinary or termination proceedings to assure compliance and fairness in application.
  • Assures that company employment, personnel, and equal opportunity practices comply with the applicable provisions of federal and state laws, including the maintenance of necessary files.  Prepares the information requested or required for compliance and reports.
  • Assist with employee benefit open enrollment.
  • Oversees administration of workers’ compensation and unemployment claims, appeals.
  • Oversees and administers FMLA.  Generates and approves FMLA paperwork, medical certifications, adjustment slips, and STD paperwork when applicable.  Track in Kronos and report monthly.
  • Investigates any complaints with employment law.
  • Initiates and oversees training of employees through company LMS system.
  • Manages performance reviews and profile testing in TQ.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Utilize our ATS to generate and post job postings when positions are open.  Reviews job posting responses and organizes with hiring manager.
  • Manages new employee orientation.
  • Enter FMLA and bereavement into payroll system.
  • Work with staffing agencies through Fieldglass/FlexSource , submit hours for contingents.
  • Maintain Incident reports, employee files and records.
  • Order, assign and activate/deactivate security badges and cards. 
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by supervision.

Education and/or Experience:                                              

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management.
  • 1-5 years of generalist experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, reasoning skills and leadership skills,
  • Familiarity with applicable state and federal laws.
  • Ability to communicate will all levels of employees


Language Skills:                                            

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Mathematical Skills:                                                  

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. 
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:                                                     

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills:                                            

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Human Resource systems preferably PeopleSoft; and excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint skills.
