Job Description

Motion Industries is seeking an Account Representative.  This position is a hybrid role that consists of outside sales and customer service responsibilities and is accountable for managing and growing commodity customers and providing in-store customer service as needed. Managing Commodity Customers:
  • Manages inventory levels at assigned customers within territory
  • Responsible for pick up and delivering customer orders
  • Reviews inventory levels and usage and actively engages with customer to seek growth opportunities
  • Leverages checkerboard opportunities to drive new product category sales in assigned accounts
  • Explains new product features, benefits and applications and introduces value added services 
New Account Development:
  • Actively engages in contacting new accounts over the phone and through field work to open new relationships and to drive sales opportunities to the Branch
  • Partners with sales management to pursue new customer sales leads
  • Partners with marketing department to review market data (MDM) for potential new customers
  • Achieves new account development goals and targets
  • Creates and develops contact information for customer 

Inside Sales (as needed):

  • Generate new and repeat sales of products by providing product and technical information in a concise manner
  • Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to suggest specific products and solutions
  • Proactively recommend items needed by customers to increase customer satisfaction and improve transaction profitability
  • Pricing/quotation entry for distribution business


  • Good customer service and communication skills 
  • Reliable, organized, detailed and focused 
  • Industry and sales experience 
  • Moderate computer skills, including communicating internally and externally via email 
  • Work experience in Microsoft Office proficiency in Excel 
  • Ability to multitask and manage time well 
  • Knowledge of supply chain systems 
  • Familiarity with the Distribution Industry (Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Fluid Power, Electrical, Motors, Motion Control, Material Handling, and Bearings) preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED 


  • 90% local travel performing sales activities
