SUMMARY

Under limited supervision, the Sr Tax Accountant supports our branches by assisting with tax compliance in the areas of sales tax, property tax, and business licensing. May mentor lower level employees. JOB DUTIES

  • Analyzes sales tax data, and prepares state and local sales and use tax returns. 
  • Prepares property tax returns. Processes assessment notices and property tax invoices. 
  • Prepares business licenses and processes related payments. 
  • Assists with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns. Analyzes and maintains accruals for tax accounts. 
  • Analyzes tax problems and provides instructions to branch personnel on the application of related tax laws. 
  • Coordinates all areas of the sales and income tax audit process for those audits assigned by management. Assists with general accounting work or special projects as assigned by management. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience or an equivalent combination. CPA preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Ability to cultivate strong cross-functional relationships and communicate effectively with team members and business partners. 
  • Advanced Excel skills. 
  • High attention to detail. 
  • Self-motivated, results oriented. 
  • Must possess strong analytical and innovative problem solving skills. 
  • Peoplesoft, Vertex and Thomson Reuters OneSource experience preferred, but not required
