Job Description:

Motion is hiring a Scrum Master. You will be responsible for guiding our software development team through the use of Agile/Scrum principles and ensuring that the agreed Agile process is being followed. The Scrum Master is responsible for implementing, facilitating and enabling the Scrum process at the team level. This position creates and fosters an environment of transparency and continuous improvement

Primary Responsibilities

  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Focuses the Agile team on delivering planned value
  • Guide the team in establishing normalized estimates and helps the team understand how to estimate Features and Capabilities
  • Facilitate team meetings, including the Daily Stand-up, Iteration Planning, Iteration Review, Iteration Retrospective, and other Agile ceremonies
  • Guides the team on how to get the most out of self-organization
  • Produce reports on team performance
  • Facilitates getting the work done
  • Help the Product Owner in their efforts to manage the backlog and guide the team while facilitating a healthy team dynamic with respect to priorities, sustainability, and scope
  • Coordinate addressing external and internal requests to the development team
  • Guides the team through estimating and forecasting


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Five (5) years of relevant business/development support, user story creation, writing, and estimation
  • Three (3) years of experience in the Scrum Master role for a software development team involved in diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory
  • Experience with of Agile and/or SCRUM
  • Experience communicating technical information to a non-technical audience


  • 6 (6) years of Project Management experience preferably in Information Technology
  • Experience in the Scrum Master role for four (5) years for a software development team diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory
  • Experience as a Team Leader and coaching, training, or developing teams

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Knowledge of well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, Retrospective formats, handling of bugs, etc.)
  • Strong collaboration, facilitation, and conflict management skills
