JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position:                            Mission Outreach Specialist

Department:Mission Services, Disability and Career Services

Supervisor:VP of Mission Services

FLSA:Exempt

 

Position Summary: 

Our Mission Outreach Specialist is a talented, charismatic individual who can juggle multiple work streams while being engaging, welcoming and persuasive. You will be responsible for two key areas:  

1. Outreach in the community to drive clients to our disability and career centers and establish partnerships for our mobile services, including representing our mission at various events.  

2. Working closely with our Marketing Team to develop and execute a robust marketing strategy across all Goodwill Dallas social media channels, including developing flyers and marketing collateral for distribution (Note: You will not be responsible for the designing, only the coordination and content.)  

The right candidate is a team player with a commitment to contributing to collaborative work streams and a heightened level of initiative to get things done. You understand when working with vulnerable populations you will wear “many hats,” will be expected to get results in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable with purposeful change on a daily basis.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

1) Develops strong strategic plan for:  

A wide variety of community resources to recruit prospective clients appropriate for various organizational programs.  For outreach and relationships with targeted community organizations that provide sources for referrals to include social service agencies, faith-based entities, schools, group homes, and probation/parole systems.  

2) Assists with planning special events, managing short term projects, and represents organization at job fairs and other community events.  

3) Maintains knowledge about other social service agencies.  

4) Actively collaborates with Team to meet grant requirements.  

5) Assists Team and clients to determine eligibility to access specialized grant funded services and provides screening and orientation of clients for admission to various programs.  

6) Maintains a positive working relationship with companies and collaborating agencies to ensure success of programs.  

7) Maintains accurate records in Client Management System database.  

8) Reviews and analyzes service reports with Director to drive efficient and effective service delivery.  

9) Performs other duties as assigned.  

10) Travel within the Goodwill Dallas Service area will be required, as well as travel to and from partner sites for outreach.  

 

Preferred/Required Qualifications:

1) B.S. or B.A. in social services, business, or related field, preferred, or equivalent years of related experience may be substituted for degree requirement at the discretion of Goodwill Dallas.  

2) Minimum of two years of community relations, account management, social work, or workforce development or related experience. A varied work history is a plus.  

3) Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.  

4) Excellent people skills  

5) Strong presentation skills  

6) Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)  

7) Must be able to be successful working in a multicultural environment.  

8) Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred  

9) Flexibility to adapt to tasks as required by clients and/or leadership.  

10) Ability to work effectively as a member of the Mission Services Team and under the direct guidance of the Director of Career Services.  

11) Complete required courses and obtain required certifications (UNTWISE Job Skills, Job Placement, First Aid, CPR) and obtain other employment related credentials, as necessary.
