JOB OBJECTIVE

 

To provide job readiness and life skills training to trainees who are enrolled in Career Services programs in a classroom setting. The curriculum will be specific to the program. This position reports to the Director of Career Services who reviews performance annually.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Acquire and maintain a thorough knowledge of employer requirements.

 

  1. Maintain confidentiality policy and procedures at all times

 

  1. Teach life and work skills to trainees receiving vocational services.

 

  1. Acquire and maintain a thorough knowledge of resources available in the community.

 

  1. Networking with businesses, agencies and the Career Centers for speakers, in-kind services mock interviews, as well as other needs.

 

  1. Teach required material to trainees on how to find and retain employment. Topics to be covered are dictated by funding streams as well as known needs of the trainees.

 

  1. Serve as advocate for individuals with felonies, economic disadvantages and disabilities.

 

  1. Ensure trainees are connected to area workforce development system(s) for employment opportunities

 

  1. Work closely with Case Manager(s) and other Goodwill staff to identify client barriers and issues that need to be addressed. 

 

  1. Participate in deciding if the client should continue to the next step in programming or remain in class to overcome any issues or barriers to employment that class time would alleviate.

 

  1. Provide necessary documentation to communicate trainee’s progress in the program. Documentation must meet the requirements of the funding stream(s). Copies of documentation must be filed in client’s file as well as provided to the funding source.

 

  1. Ensure clients have filled out documentation needed to begin Job Search such as; sample application and resume prep sheet and has participated in at least one mock interview.

 

  1. Participate in inter- and intra-departmental meetings as scheduled.

 

  1. Ensure Workshop Exit Evaluation are completed and given to Quality Assurance. 

 

  1. Ensure each workshop topic has corresponding documentation in the client’s file.

 

 

 

SPECIFICATIONS

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education or Social Service preferred. A minimum of 2 years of college and related work experience is required.

 

  1. Ability to motivate others and understand the needs of people with barriers to employment.

 

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

  1. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

 

  1. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet stringent deadlines.

 

  1. Ability to relate to individuals coming from a variety of economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

 

  1. Must have ability to teach a diverse group of people.

 

  1. Must be able to pass a drug screen.

 

  1. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
