Position Summary:
Goodwill Dallas is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Grants Coordinator to join our Development team. The Grants Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of grant writing, reporting, and tracking, as well as managing relationships with donors and funding agencies. This position plays a key role in identifying funding opportunities, collecting and analyzing relevant data, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. The successful candidate will have 1-2 years’ experience in nonprofit grant writing, a passion for data integrity and reporting, and the ability to manage multiple projects within deadlines. Goodwill is looking for someone who will be a collaborative, self-motivated, problem-solving team member who will also have fun along the way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grant Writing & Submission:
- Write and prepare compelling grant proposals to foundations, corporations, government entities, and other funding agencies that align with Goodwill Dallas' mission and programs.
- Manage Goodwill accounts with foundation grant portals.
- Maintain organized virtual files of grant applications and reports on Goodwill SharePoint.
- Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare and submit timely grant reports to funders, ensuring all terms and conditions are met.
- Partner with the IT and Mission Departments to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and project outcomes for inclusion in reports.
- Conduct employee and client interviews and write stories that convey the qualitative impact of Goodwill’s work.
- Data Collection & Analysis:
- Collaborate with program staff to gather and analyze data related to program performance, impact, and community needs.
- Ensure data is accurate and aligns with grant reporting requirements.
- Community Needs Assessment:
- Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging community needs that align with Goodwill programs to build a strong community needs assessment that is updated and presented to the executive team annually.
- Funding Opportunity Research:
- Continuously research and identify new grant opportunities that support Goodwill’s strategic priorities through the use of Foundation Directory Online.
- Stay informed about trends in the philanthropic landscape.
- Donor Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with funders and donors through effective communication, stewardship, and regular updates on the impact of their support.
- Participate in United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ Pathways to Work Advisory Committee.
- Utilize Raiser's Edge CRM to track grant applications, reporting deadlines, funder communications, and donor relationships. Maintain accurate records and ensure all information is up to date.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with the VP of Development and Communications, VP of Mission, Director of Career Services, and other program staff to align grant applications with organizational needs, budgeting, and strategic priorities.

Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, English, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in grant writing, research, or fundraising, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Experience with CRM and case management systems for tracking and reporting data.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Strong research skills and knowledge of funding trends.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
- Collaborative team player with a passion for Goodwill’s mission.
Working Conditions:
This position is based at Goodwill Dallas’ headquarters, with occasional local travel for donor meetings and community outreach.
Supervised by: Vice President of Development and Communications
Hours of Work: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. There will be periods when longer and additional days will be required.
