JOB SUMMARY
The Principal Trainer for Epic is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering effective training programs for users of the Epic EHR system. This role involves designing course materials, conducting classroom training, developing e-learning content, and supporting go-live activities to ensure users are well-equipped to perform their roles within the Epic system. The Principal Trainer will collaborate with project leaders, application analysts, and department leads to ensure training aligns with operational workflows and supports optimal utilization of the Epic system.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
High School Diploma required
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field or in lieu of degree, three (3) years of relevant work experience will be accepted in addition to the experience requirement Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
Work Experience
3+ years of Epic training experience required
1+ years of content creation preferred
1+ years of experience as a credentialed trainer for Epic required
Required Licenses/Certifications
Epic certification in either Ambulatory, Radiance, or Cadence Prelude preferred
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Training Program Development:
o Develop and maintain role-based training curricula for various Epic applications.
o Create and update training materials, including lesson plans, e-learning modules, and quick reference guides.
o Evaluate and incorporate feedback to continuously improve training content and delivery methods
Training Delivery:
o Conduct classroom and virtual training sessions for new users and provide ongoing education for existing users.
o Serve as the primary instructor for complex, high-impact training sessions.
o Adapt training style to meet the diverse learning needs of end users.
Go-Live Support and Optimization:
o Provide on-site support during system go-lives, ensuring smooth transitions for end users.
o Identify knowledge gaps and provide targeted training interventions post-implementation.
o Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and implement system optimizations based on user feedback and operational needs.
Documentation and Reporting:
o Document training sessions and user progress, maintaining records in accordance with organizational standards.
o Develop and distribute reports on training effectiveness, participation, and feedback.
o Assist with tracking and documenting ongoing Epic updates and release notes to keep training materials current.
Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with Epic application analysts, project managers, and other trainers to ensure alignment between system functionality and operational workflows.
o Engage with department leaders to understand specific needs and customize training to support their teams’ workflows.
o Act as a liaison between IT and operational departments to foster effective communication and understanding.
Continuous Improvement:
o Participate in Epic certification or re-certification as needed and stay current with Epic updates.
o Identify areas for improvement in training delivery and user support, recommending innovative solutions.
o Conduct and analyze needs assessments to identify and address skill gaps among end users.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred
o Cerner, Athena, and/or eClinicalWorks experience
o Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• In collaboration with the senior leadership, this role is responsible for development, recommendations and execution revenue cycle stategies that support the organization’s strategic plan.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities for enhanced automation of GoHealth EMR operations through optimization of Epic and eCW functionality.
• Implement and evaluate effectiveness of revenue EMR policies, practices, and procedures in effort to maximize customer focus, efficiency and effectiveness of revenue cycle departments.
• Up to 50% of travel or more depending on training needs.
• All other duties as assigned.
