Sr. Accountant (hybrid)

Global Indemnity is seeking a detailed oriented and hard-working Senior Accountant to join the Bala Cynwyd office. This role is an accounting position providing dedicated professional accounting services with a concentration in compensation and equity reporting and analysis. This person will work on many detail-oriented activities such as recording journal entries, account reconciliations, monthly closing procedures, financial statement reporting, expense planning, forecasting and analysis, Board of Director presentations, and equity compensation plan maintenance.

Position & Responsibilities:


  • Record quarterly compensation and benefits expense accruals for directors and employees
  • Prepare annual director and employee compensation and benefits expense plan
  • Analyze actual expenses vs. plan quarterly; prepare quarterly expense analysis exhibits
  • Analyze actual staffing vs. staffing plan quarterly
  • Maintain detailed accounting for officers’ equity compensation programs
  • Record quarterly equity and equity compensation activity for entire company
  • Prepare quarterly and annual equity roll forward
  • Prepare quarterly equity and equity compensation executive summaries
  • Calculate weighted average shares quarterly and prepare related executive summary
  • Prepare select quarterly Board of Directors’ presentations
  • Prepare quarterly and annual compensation and equity financial statement notes, tables and exhibits
  • Prepare all compensation and equity related statutory filings
  • Ensure SOX compliance in the areas of compensation, expenses and equity
  • Lead the compensation and equity portion of the quarterly and annual corporate audit
  • Develop policy and procedures surrounding equity and compensation accounting
  • Execute various projects to increase automation and efficiency of monthly expense close
  • Review bi-weekly payroll and payroll journal entries
  • Assist payroll unit with unique / complex accounting issues as needed
  • Assist with the accrual, calculation and issuance of Contingent Commission payments
  • Conduct special requests / projects as they arise


Requirements & Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • CPA or partial completion a plus
  • Two to six years of experience
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Detail-oriented, commitment to quality and hard work
  • Strong computer skills - specifically Excel
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments a must
