Staff Accountant

Finance Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania


Global Indemnity is seeking a detailed oriented and hard-working Staff Accountant to join the Bala Cynwyd office. This role is an accounting position providing dedicated professional accounting services with a concentration in expense accounting / accruals, quarterly departmental expense reporting, premium tax reporting and expense analysis. This person will work on many detail-oriented activities such as recording journal entries, account reconciliations, monthly closing procedures, financial statement reporting, premium tax returns, expense planning, forecasting and analysis, and Board of Director presentations. 

Position & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts
  • Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations
  • Assist with monthly close processes
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations related to expense accruals / prepaid expenses
  • Analyze actual expenses vs. plan quarterly; prepare quarterly expense analysis exhibits
  • Liaison with department heads regarding quarterly expense analyses and annual expense plan
  • Prepare premium tax returns and quarterly premium tax accruals
  • Prepare select quarterly Board of Directors’ presentations
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statement notes, tables and exhibits
  • Ensure SOX compliance in the areas of expense reporting and accounts payable
  • Participate in the quarterly and annual corporate audit and related information requests
  • Execute various projects to increase automation and efficiency of monthly expense close
  • Conduct special requests / projects as they arise

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience required
  • CPA license (or partial completion / intent to acquire) preferred
  • Zero to two years of experience
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Detail-oriented, commitment to quality and hard work
  • Strong computer skills - specifically Excel
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments is a must
