Essential Functions:    

  • Supports research and development operations through setup, repair, and maintenance of machinery, equipment, and mechanical components such as motors and pumps.
  • Performs corrective and preventative maintenance to repair or modify defects.
  • Diagnoses, analyzes, and repairs specialized equipment heavily dependent upon electrical controls, electromechanical mechanisms, and related components under general direction.
  • Maintains operating conditions of equipment. Provides job completion notification through various communication formats.
  • Fabricates, assembles, and test parts including but not limited to various pumps, valves, laboratory equipment, heaters, compressors, and other mechanical system parts.
  • Operates a variety of maintenance equipment including but not limited to metal fabrication tools, hand tools, power tools, forklift, welding torches, and electrical diagnostic testing instrument.
  • Obtains tools, equipment, and instruments required for repairs. Maintains and stores tools appropriately in accordance with procedures.
  • Collaborates with engineers, technical and production management, and/or vendors as needed to complete repairs.
  • Recommends equipment, materials, sizes, process, and machinery improvements based on past practices, basic data tables, and technical references.
  • Performs other duties and projects as business needs require at the direction of management.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience as a mechanic.
  • Previous experience in an R&D lab environment preferred.
  • Previous fabrication and machine shop experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate tools and maintenance equipment including but not limited to power hand tools, forklift, and electrical diagnostic testing instrument.
  • Must possess effective oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel in a professional and effective manner.
  • Ability to frequently push and/or pull up to forty (40) pounds and/or up to fifty (50) pounds with assistance or use of equipment.

Pay Range: $20.00-$28.00/hr
