Interior Designer
Description
- Drafts basic interior design plans and construction documents using Revit (floor plans, schedules, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations and sections, etc.) and assembles into a cohesive package.
- Prepares schematic and conceptual design packages (schematic space plans, client mood boards, renderings, presentations, etc.). Presents to clients for feedback and approval as directed.
- Utilizes skills from the following areas to complete basic interior design projects/tasks:
- Building Codes: general understanding of the California Building Code (CBC) and ADA standards.
- Software: effectively utilizes Revit, Enscape, AutoCAD, and Adobe Photoshop to provide basic drawings, renderings, and presentations.
- Constructability: simple understanding of building components and how structures/furnishings are constructed.
- Materials: general understanding of materials and how they work with one another.
- Space Planning: with guidance, plans spaces for flow, optimal utilization, and overall synergy, per client’s needs.
- Requests for Information: with guidance, answers questions on construction drawings.
- Organizes and maintains Design Material Library. Researches and sources finish materials, fabrics, furniture, lighting, tile, plumbing fittings/fixtures, and accessories for the development of Material Library.
- With the direction of management, researches construction specifications and alternative product materials and provides cost estimates. Coordinates with vendors for pricing and availability; coordinates schedules, purchasing, and installation with vendors.
- Coordinates and collaborates with in-house teams on interior design, construction progress, procurement, art/graphics, metalworks, and other design-related tasks.
- Creates and maintains information (stock, pricing, lead time, etc.) for furniture, fixtures, equipment (FF&E), and upholstery based on company standards via shared reports including but not limited to Smartsheet and SharePoint.
- Tracks, coordinates, and schedules product installment dates; coordinates with construction crew and other teams on multiple concurrent projects to ensure appropriate progress.
- Visits jobsites to gather field surveys/dimensions, site conditions, and creates as-built drawings and other deliverables.
- Creates simple hand sketches as needed.
- Modifies or refines designs to conform to project owner’s specifications, functionality, cost effectiveness or changes in design trends.
- Prints/plots construction documents and rendering presentations as needed.
- Takes detailed notes during client and team meetings and creates meeting minutes to provide to appropriate parties, with some direction from management.
- Generates miscellaneous graphic designs as needed.
- Travels to satellite labs and residential properties as directed; utilizing personal vehicle to transport/purchase materials and furniture to various locations as necessary.
- Tracks inventory supply and replenishes and/or places special order request when needed.
- Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at direction of management.
- College degree in Architecture or Interior Design from accredited school/college.
- Minimum one (1) year of interior design experience.
- Valid California state driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
- Must have reliable personal transportation with at least the state minimum insurance coverage; use of personal vehicle is required for essential functions.
Pay Range: $21.97-$30.00 /hr.
