Essential Functions:
  • Serves as point-of-contact for employees, responding timely to simple and complex inquiries regarding benefits, retirement plans, vacation/sick time, leaves of absence, claims issues, and other health and wellness benefits.
  • Acts as a resource for Management, Payroll, and HR teams, ensuring understanding and compliance with benefit policies, procedures, and regulations.  
  • Provides detailed guidance to and educates employees on benefits policies and programs, legal rights, eligibility, enrollment processes and requirements; generates necessary correspondence as required.
  • Promotes awareness and understanding of Company Health and Wellness programs and services, encouraging employee engagement and participation.
  • Completes administrative duties, including frequent and timely auditing, to ensure employee benefits records are maintained, updated, and accurate, both internally in HRIS for the Company and externally for carriers/providers on a weekly basis.
  • Administers and manages Leaves of Absence (LOA) by reviewing and approving/rejecting LOA requests in accordance with all State/Federal laws and in compliance with Company policies; prepares all necessary documentation and correspondence for employees and/or dependents. Engages in and facilitates the Interactive Process (IP) to evaluate and determine reasonable accommodation(s) with employees as necessary.
  • Researches and resolves employee complaints or concerns related to benefits and leave of absences in a timely manner; seeks guidance from Benefits management as necessary.
  • Conducts engaging Employee Benefits meetings to educate employees on benefits options and programs. 
  • Assists in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance requirements to report and communicate benefits eligibility as it applies to applicable measurement and stability periods; assists in preparing and distributing the 1095-C forms.
  • Partners with Payroll to manage and coordinate benefits related transactions, including but not limited to: application of leave and time-off, status changes, terminations, court orders, and 401(k) continuance orders.
  • Manages Employment Development Department (EDD) Disability, Paid Family Leave, and Unemployment Insurance claims, including processing forms, responding to inquiries, and attending appeal hearings as required.
  • Coordinates the Annual Open Enrollment for benefits plans; develops marketing materials to communicate and promote open enrollment; manages the administration of benefits.
  • Partners with cross-functional HR teams in planning and executing on-site events and programs; actively participates in events.
  • Maintains and updates various benefits documents and resources, including but not limited to the LOA packet, Benefits Orientation packet, and benefits information on Company internet website.
  • Administers internal employee benefits such as, but not limited to: Employee Dental Assistance Program and Rideshare Program.
  • Assists in maintaining Employee Benefits page on Company intranet website by reviewing site for current and accurate information on a regular basis.
  • Produce and review the Full-Time/Part-Time Report to ensure employee compliance with benefits eligibility policy; may create and issue appropriate correspondence and notifications to employees and Payroll Department as necessary.
  • May serve as a resource and mentor to internal team members by providing direction and training on LOA, benefits, and 401(k) retirement plans as directed by Benefits management.
  • Manages and executes the termination process including requesting final paychecks, conducting employee exit interviews, completing COBRA notifications, updating HRIS database, and inputting appropriate information into vendor websites.
  • Acts as First Responder for first aid injuries and completes Worker’s Compensation Injury Report for incidents/accidents.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at direction of management. 
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred. 
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in Human Resources or Benefits. 
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience administering benefits plans and leave of absences. 
Special Requirements/Certification:
  • Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) or other Benefits Certification a plus. 
  • Bi-lingual proficiency (Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese or Spanish) preferred. 
  • First Aid/CPR Certification a plus. 

Pay Range: $36.00-$47.00/hr.
