Essential Functions:
  • Analyzes forecast and business actuals to determine when to submit purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, materials and/or special tools; places orders as needed based on results.
  • Analyzes and plans for long lead time and transit time products.
  • Ensures uninterrupted inventory availability for all standard and critical components.
  • Collaborates with R&D and Product Managers on new product development.
  • Identifies product cost savings.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information.
  • Researches, prepares, and issues bid proposals to potential vendors.
  • Reviews quotes to secure the most competitive bids; negotiates contracts.
  • Visits suppliers’ facilities; approves suppliers’ and qualifies them as new sources.
  • Coordinates with Plant Engineering to ensure timely execution of sourcing activities.
  • Informs management of market prices and trends, engineering developments, and manufacturing method improvements to stay abreast of emerging business movements.
  • Establishes schedules and inventory control parameters planning for assigned products and services.
  • Manages all purchases. Contacts vendor regarding discrepancies, mitigates any risk to the supply chain, and facilitates expediting activities.
  • Interfaces with all departments and resolves problems and issues as necessary.
  • Participates in RA/QA and FDA processing.
  • Partners with RA/QA department to process new product approvals and other supplier quality requirements.
  • Arranges for submission and inspection of sample products to RA/QA to ensure adherence to FDA regulations.
  • Researches new vendors and materials based on needs of each department.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at direction of management.

 

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Planning, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of purchasing and materials control experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience with utilizing inventory software required (Great Plains and/or Dynamic 365 a plus).

Pay Range: $69,619.00 - $92,826.00
