We are seeking a Real Estate Tax Manager to join our real estate investment firm. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review Quarterly REIT Testing for real estate investment trusts (REITs) within multiple fund groups.
- Coordinate Tax Due Diligence related to acquisitions and dispositions of properties with business team and external consultants.
- Opportunity to assist Vice President (Tax) with Fund Formation projects, including the review of agreements, fund structuring topics and investor items.
- Conduct tax research and analysis on real estate tax issues and stay updated on changes in tax laws.
- Review federal and state tax returns for Fund and JV structures that are prepared by Big 4 provider. Ensure timely delivery to investors (e.g., K-1s and 1042-S) while maintaining compliance with fund and investor agreements.
- Year-end ASC 740 components for financial statements purposes. Coordinate with the Vice President (Tax) and accounting team to ensure accurate tax reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate tax-related matters effectively to internal stakeholders and external advisors.
- Team Support and Leadership: Support the tax team in various initiatives, such as process improvements and upskilling, and staying abreast of industry best practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. MST or CPA certification is preferred.
- 5 to 6 years of experience in tax with a public accounting firm or in a real estate tax private industry position. Experience with both partnership taxation and REITs is preferred.
- Keen interest in analytics and technology tools, and proficiency in data analytics (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities, with the flexibility and adaptability to handle changing priorities and assignments.
- Effective communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
