DESCRIPTION:
To provide management with timely, accurate and reliable information regarding the properties and profit centers for which the accountant is responsible, which includes review and validation of general ledger entries for properties maintained by joint venture companies and journalizing general ledger activity received from the joint venture partner, recording significant transactions in the general ledger (Acquisitions, Dispositions and Loan Transactions), preparation of  investor reporting requests, review of money reporting packages provided by a third party accounting team and owning the fund level cash management process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:     

  • Multifamily Fund Account 
    • Interact daily with the fund administrator to review monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages and assist in resolving any reconciling items.
    • Assist with reviewing capital calls, distributions, contributions, and investor capital statements prepared by the third-party fund administrator.
    • Assist with providing financial information needed for compliance, regulatory filings and various ad-hoc reports.
    • Assist with the preparation of, and support for, the quarterly Flash and financial statements in accordance with US GAAP Investment Companies Accounting Standards.
    • Assist in compiling, analyzing, and preparing fund’s financial data and performance metrics.
    • Collaborate with other departments on a wide variety of projects and investor inquiries.
    • Interact with the external auditor on audit requests.
    • Assist with the preparation of acquisitions, dispositions, opening and closing entries.
    • Assist with the Purchase Price Allocation of acquired properties.
    • Assist with the International Vendor setup
     

    Property Accounting

    • Review general ledger monthly to verify accuracy of third party financial statement preparation 
    • Review monthly financial statements including variance analysis researching and commenting on reasons for significant variances
    • Analyzes and reconciles balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure accuracy and correct classification of activity.
    • Ensure necessary year-end adjustments are accurate to finalize financial statements
    • Review capital expenditures, analyze uninsured loss account and startup cost accounts 
    • Resolve open bank reconciling items and balance sheet reconciliation items
    • Responsible for ensuring the filing of personal property tax, business license, and sales tax.
    • Responsible of maintaining timely property tax payments
    • Participate in monthly meetings to review financial statements
    • Provide lenders with debt compliance and other financial information as required by loan documents.
    • Approve and code certain invoices into Yardi
    • Act as a liaison to auditors for property information and provides needed documentation and reviews audit requirements and schedules
    • Preparation of wire requests and coordination with Treasury personnel to ensure funds transfer.
    • Oversight of acquisition and sales requests
    • Other projects assigned
     
     REQUIREMENTS:     
  • Extremely detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to organize & prioritize projects, complete multiple tasks on schedule. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience with Real Estate preferred, Corporate experience required. 
  • At least 3 - 5 years of relevant experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
