Assignment Specialist

Who You Are:

This position works directly with lead assignment editor to determine and implement all the events to which our photographers are assigned. They plan and liaise with all aspects of editorial assignment shoots including, but not limited to photographers, account executives, picture desk, clients, and sports teams or governing bodies, publicists.

Your Next Challenge:

• Owns the management of paid assignment costs relative to revenue and therefore gross margins
• Manages the overall delivery of paid assignment work in conjunction with the paid assignment sales team
• Researches current events specializing in, news, entertainment or sports and secures premium access to these events by negotiating with clients, publicists or magazines
• Event Management: Assists Assignment Editors in all areas of assignment production and logistics
• Provides feedback to photographers on quality and production of events
• Reviews event expenses on special shoots and assignments, including invoicing and costs
• Document management (processing, filings, records, invoicing, letters of intent) regarding the production of events
• Maintaining industry awareness which includes keeping up to date on breaking news, sporting events, celebrity events, or pop-culture, etc.; familiarizing oneself with photographer work, events, etc.; keeping up to date on technological trends for use in events, assignments, or shoots
• Works with other agencies on pool material; working closely with editors to assure the best level of coverage
• Manages feedback from researchers and sales staff to gauge client satisfaction

What You'll Need:

• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in this field
• Photo editor experience is a plus
• Extensive knowledge in specialized field required, i.e. Sport, Entertainment, News, or Public Relations
• Demonstrates independent judgment and thorough thought processes
• Ability to work in a fast paced and pressurized environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education and Certifications
• B.A. or B.S. degree required
