In this role the individual will receive customer orders and will coordinate with sales and operations in creating the next day, week, and monthly shipping schedules. Maintains records of daily production orders. Interact with customers and truck drivers to ensure proper loading and ticketing of materials to job sites. The individual will provide exemplary customer service and work with customers on upcoming projects and material requests. Support Sales Department goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responds to customer questions and concerns by phone to maintain good customer relations.
- Communicate with any customer, job site, mix quality, plant and any other concerns and issues related to the business to the appropriate entity (i.e., sales, QC, operations, or management).
- Front line communication with customers and customer truck operators.
- Become thoroughly familiar with the day’s business demands by reviewing schedule and individual customer orders.
- Receive customer orders and assist customers with identifying proper products needed for specific end uses.
- Weigh company and non-company trucks on truck scale before and after loaded with aggregate or asphalt products. Write and print delivery tags for all loads of material leaving site.
- Direct plant operators, loader operators, or drivers regarding which material to load on trucks.
- Verifies material once loaded and weighs trucks to ensure correct quantity is shipped.
- Complete daily reports on product sales, product allowances and adjustments, delivery problems, and other matters.
- Compute accounts receivable to ensure accuracy of credit sales and receipts.
- Completes DTL.
- Scheduling and tracking of inbound rubble, grindings, or other materials.
- Support Sales team with customer relations and support mission for driving additional sales revenue and providing exemplary customer support.
- Provide best-in-class customer care in all customer interactions.
Skills:
- Knowledge of construction materials, including aggregates and asphalt, as well as their processes and uses; weights and measures laws and regulations; trucks and transportation requirements and regulations.
- Skill in providing excellent customer service; communicating effectively by phone and in person; scheduling and organizing large numbers of people and equipment efficiently and quickly; reading maps; preparing and using reports and forms; reading and interpreting computer-generated reports; making basic mathematical computations.
- Ability to think and act quickly and creatively to anticipate and resolve problems.
- Research specifications for various materials.
- Manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Work independently and make decisions.
- Must represent George Reed Inc. in a professional manner to all customers, vendors, and internal personnel.
- Skill in using computers to record information and create reports.
- Must work well under pressure.
Education/Experience Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- One to two years of experience that has included dispatching, customer relations, and construction/transportation; administrative or sales experience is required.
- Telephone, keyboard, computer, and 10-key operator experience a plus.
