The ideal candidate will be a natural at building relationships, have impeccable organizational skills, ability to work under deadlines and understand the business. Material Sales Representative's are responsible for all aspects of enhancing our relationships with public agencies and the private sector on the quantitative reasons our products and services are premium. Our Sales Representative will serve all of our GRI locations primarily the Sonora to Sacramento locations. The ideal candidate will direct the planning, development, implementation of marketing materials to increase our exposure and market share. They will ensure development of current programs to maintain customer base and secure new customers. Monitor and assist in implementation of marketing plans to procure future projects. Maintain involvement in various associations to promote George Reed, Inc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Have a strong understanding of asphalt concrete and quarried aggregates
- Proficient in the Apex system
- Fill in for weighmaster positions as needed Request P.O.’s on all sales
- Review all available bid publications daily/weekly
- Review daily sales reports for accuracy and completeness & make necessary adjustments for accurate billings
- Track and review sales orders and P.O.’s and monitor their progress
- Research, build, and review all quotes in a timely mannerTurn in and discuss weekly sales plan with sales manager
- Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules etc.
- Conduct post quote/sales follow up and coordinate with project management team as appropriate
- Strategize with sales mgt. & production to market GRI’s unique products in new and existing markets
- Focus sales efforts on qualified, responsible, profitable business partners/customers
- Service existing accounts and establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential customers
- Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management and customer
- Complete and maintain accurate sales forecasts, data gathering and reports for plant/production mgr. & sales mgr.
- Review monthly reports, i.e. aging, ASP, volume, etc. with sales manager every 30 days
- Meet budgeted sales volumes and ASP
- Track material inventories to maximize sales opportunities and profits
- Participate in management meetings and take responsibility for sales improvement initiatives and other assigned action items
- Maintain professionalism with customers and co-workers at all times, contribute to a positive work environment for customers, co-workers & mgt.
- Special projects as assigned

- Proficient in Microsoft Office i.e., Word, Excel, etc.
- Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Must possess the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects utilizing organizational skills and communication skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility regarding timely and accurate completion of work, and a strong commitment to corporate goals.
- Must be capable of functioning in fast paced demanding work environment.
Education/Experience Required:
- Previous professional sales experience in the construction industry preferred
- Minimum 5+ years in the Construction Materials Environment.
