JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Inventory and Pricing is responsible for development, oversight and direction of inventory levels, management processes and standards, system costs, resale pricing, margin enhancement and data governance in a distribution and light manufacturing environment across the company’s ERP systems. Documentation, problem-solving and collaboration are key for this role. The ideal candidate is an action-focused leader and developer of their team of pricing and inventory managers and analysts in collaboration with colleagues within supply chain and other departments. This is a NEW position as GCG continues to grow and reports directly to the VP of Supply Chain.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Manage inventory performance across industry verticals, product categories and brands
  • Develop and implement best in class inventory optimization initiatives backed with ROI projections
  • Establish key metrics and benchmark levels to achieve target inventory goals in core, near-core and ancillary products
  • Provide detailed reports on inventory operations, stock levels and adjustments to company leadership
  • Collaborate with sales and operations management toward common goals
  • Create capacity models for strategic products
  • Develop and implement best in class pricing and costing strategies
  • Lead functional efficacy programs to improve inventory utilization
  • Analyze supplier and sales trends and develop patterns for inventory and price forecasting
  • Manage and maintain costing records
  • Communicate significant cost and inventory changes to field personnel
  • Develop and maintain highly functional product and pricing data (PIM) companywide
  • Lead cross functional training around inventory health, pricing and margin development
  • Recruit and train new employees

 

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; Post graduate degree preferred
  • At least five (5) years of supply chain, inventory or purchasing management experience required
  • At least three (3) years in a supervisory role managing a remote team
  • Strong working knowledge and experience implementing inventory management/replenishment and supply planning leading practices and principles
  • Prior sales experience is a plus

  • Applied understanding of inventory optimization concepts
  • Understanding of purchasing methods and inventory management concepts in a distribution and production environment
  • Understanding of logistics, basic accounting principles and warehouse operations
  • Understanding of profitability and financial impact of purchasing decisions
  • Able to coach and be coachable
  • Able to manage disparate work flows simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills
