JOB SUMMARY

The VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) Specialist delivers products to our customers in a safe, courteous, and timely manner. The ideal candidate will establish and maintain outstanding relationships with current and new customers. Candidates must be able to analyze inventory usage using several methodologies including ERP system evaluation and physical inventory counts. The goal is to keep customers fully-stocked and to maintain the appropriate amount of safety stock. The VMI Specialist will work with both inside and outside sales to communicate customer needs and changes in purchasing/usage habits and requests. Candidates will have the ability to analyze the most efficient routes to schedule customer visits on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. The VMI Specialist will inspect delivery vehicles for any maintenance needs and ensures the safety and security of the loading and unloading process while on-site and at customer sites.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Load, transport, and deliver items to clients or businesses in a safe, timely manner.
  • Review orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
  • Perform appropriate housekeeping (5S) methods to maintain a clean, safe environment on-site and at customer sites.
  • Process orders in the ERP system to ensure customers are billed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist with loading and unloading items from vehicles.
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering questions, and handling customer complaints.
  • Work with the sales team to update customer requests and purchasing trends.
  • Adhere to assigned routes and following time schedules.
  • Abide by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record.
  • Operate equipment and machines, such as cars, trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • CDL license not required
  • Prior route experience a plus
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must have excellent driving record
  • All drivers must be over 21 years old for insurance purposes
  • 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. schedule with some overtime based on delivery schedules, Monday – Friday

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of related experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Lifting, bending, carrying, kneeling, maneuvering, reaching and pushing/pulling.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Maneuvering materials on pallet jacks
  • Prolonged sitting
  • Ability to discern colors
