Vendor Managed Inventory Specialist

Genuine Cable Group (GCG) is seeking a dynamic, experienced Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Specialist to join our team in our Rochester Hills, MI facility. This is a great opportunity for someone who excels at visiting customer sites, collaborating with internal and external partners to improve business results, ensuring customers are fully stocked, and identifying new opportunities to provide outstanding service to customers and colleagues alike.

Position Summary:

In this role, you will make daily deliveries to our customers, using our delivery vans, providing products in a safe, courteous, and timely manner, ensuring all customers are fully stocked. You’ll build relationships with current and new customers at all levels, from crib and site managers to senior leaders. You’ll analyze inventory usage using a variety of methods, including ERP system evaluation and physical counts, and inform inside and outside sales teams about any changes in customer purchasing/usage habits, needs and requests.

What You’ll Do

  • Schedule regular customer visits, and analyze the most efficient routes
  • Load, transport, and deliver items to clients or businesses in a safe, timely manner
  • Inspect delivery vehicles for any maintenance needs ensures the safety and security of the loading and unloading process while on-site and at customer sites
  • Review orders before and after delivery; ensure orders are complete, charges are correct, and customers are satisfied
  • Perform appropriate methods (5S) to maintain a clean, safe environment onsite and at customer sites
  • Process orders in the ERP system (Rubicon) to ensure customers are billed in an accurate and timely manner; run reports and evaluate min/max levels as required
  • Assist with loading and unloading items from vehicles at customer sites; ensure the safety and security of loading and unloading processes
  • Provide excellent customer service, including answering questions and handling complaints
  • Work with sales teams to update customer requests and purchasing trends
  • Adhere to assigned routes and schedules.
  • Abide by all transportation laws and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Operate equipment and machines, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, etc., at the home location

  What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of related experience, preferably in an inventory role with route experience
  • Previous experience working for/with automotive suppliers (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record; chauffeur license a plus
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to frequently lift, bend, carry, kneel, reach, push/pull, etc.
  • Ability to maneuver materials on pallet jacks
  • Ability to endure periods of prolonged sitting and driving
  • Ability to discern colors
