Bring your supply chain, customer service, and purchasing experience to GCG ! We are hiring a Purchasing and Inventory Expediter.  In this role, you will manage purchase orders, ensuring that all information is provided in a timely manner. You will partner with our buyers and vendors to support various transactional and planning functions.  This is a hybrid role that can be based out of any of our major locations, including Chicago, IL; Philadelphia, PA; Alpharetta, GA; Leominster, MA; Arlington, TX; Rochester Hills, MI; or Auburn, WA.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and update inventory items for assigned commodities/vendors; work with management to maintain the appropriate safety stock levels to support the Business Plan
  • Collaborate with suppliers to provide timely order updates and adjust shipment schedules
  • Analyze shipping history and trends to improve purchasing process; Set up new items and product level details as needed
  • Ensure purchase orders are confirmed and deliveries are scheduled and maintained to meet production requirements
  • Obtain pricing and lead-times on Requests for Quotations
  • Maintain inbound shipment log within Company direct system
  • Provide feedback to sales and operations regarding late shipments or inadequate stock availability
  • Review MRP requirements for assigned parts and make necessary adjustments to fulfill immediate needs
  • Identify and participate in supplier selection and evaluation process for new and existing suppliers
  • Manage supplier performance related to delivery, quality, etc.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (preferred)
  • Understanding of purchasing methods and inventory management concepts in a distribution and production environment
  • Understanding of logistics, basic accounting principles and warehouse operations
  • Understanding of profitability and financial impact of purchasing decisions
  • Exceptional analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to sit and work on a computer for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
