Engineering Manager

This technical leadership position will lead an Engineering department consisting of engineers and technicians to develop implement and maintain manufacturing processes to meet proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Ensure the engineering team and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively.




Hire, supervise, coach and train a team of engineers and technicians. Assess performance of direct reports, co-develop growth plans and evaluate per company policy. Perform yearly performance reviews and goal setting.


Develop, review and present Requests for Quotation

- Identify labor, material, equipment /tooling and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.


Assembly/Test Process Development

- Create, maintain and document part numbers, Bill of Materials (BOM’s), assembly, test  process flows (travelers), assembly procedures/assembly aids, and process labor standards

            - Fit-up production floor to meet the order demand

- Generate “incoming inspection” measurement criterion identifying all inspection critical dimensions/notes and the corresponding tolerances and measurement tools



            - Evaluate and recommend assembly equipment and tooling

            - Ensure that equipment is serviced per maintenance specifications

            - Ensure that equipment is calibrated per ISO requirements

            - Determine training requirements for assembly equipment



- Maintain and control records of latest customer prints, manufacturing process flows, procedures and assembly aids.

-  Develop and update manufacturing engineering procedures in compliance with ISO9001

- Lead first article fabrication using production personnel as required

            - Work with all internal functions and customer to gain approval of first articl


Continuous Improvement of Existing Assembly Processes

- Candidate will promote continuous improvement and total quality concepts in all areas

- Evaluate and improve assembly methods, tooling and equipment

            - Re-engineer existing assembly and test processes to drive down costs

- Primary customer interface for technical and application related support


> Interface with all internal functions on manufacturing engineering related activities

            - Manage the Engineering Request for Change process

            - Generate Engineering Request for Change as required

- Review Engineering Request for Change for impact on assembly processes, procedures, aids and related documentation and implement stated impacts


> Establish rework processes for returned material


> Establish commit dates to Production Control for all manufacturing engineering activities





- BS in Engineering or Industrial Technology and 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing engineering management a MUST

- Demonstrated technical knowledge and work experience in cable and harness assembly and interconnect technologies a MUST

- Strong organizational and management skills

- Excellent verbal communications skills and computer literacy

- APICS certification and ISO 9001:2000 experience

- Technical knowledge of chassis builds and military applications a PLUS

- LEAN certification a PLUS

- Analog test experience a PLUS

- CAD (Pro/E or AutoCAD) proficiency a PLUS
