Water Resources Engineering Intern

The Houghton, Michigan office of GEI is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform a broad range of water resources engineering technician duties.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Candidates will work with engineers, scientist and field technicians while performing field data collection, and construction observation and documentation for restoration and infrastructure projects.
- Development of plans and drawings utilizing AutoCAD and ArcGIS tools.
- Analysis of GIS datasets and survey data for development of hydrologic and hydraulic models. Typical modeling tools include, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, HY-8, and empirical calculations in Excel.
- Travel to project sites occasionally required, including overnight travel.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma required, AS degree in Engineering Technology, in pursuit of BS degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geology Engineering, or related field highly preferred.
- Previous experience performing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and valid driver’s license are required.
- Must be willing to travel
- Preference will also be given toward candidates with experience using AutoCAD, ArcMap and surveying equipment.
