GEI is expanding and we are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our growing Marquette, MI, office. This individual will assist with ongoing field and engineering design efforts related to dams and embankment design, storm water management, site development, water and wastewater engineering and other engineering design projects

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

We have a need for a Staff Civil Engineer to work on a variety of projects.

  •  The desired civil design skills include: basic excavation and backfill, storm, sanitary and water distribution system design, leachate systems, wetlands, embankments and spillways, dams and spillways, technical specification support, and construction observation/management.
  • Creating Civil 3D models of major earthwork components of dams, landfills and mining projects;
  • Preparation of permit, bidding and documentation drawing sets;
  • Converting field information to final drawings;
  • Preparing hydrogeologic and geologic characterization drawings;
  • Preparing material estimates from final designs;
  • Direct and coordinate the assembly of final plan sets from multiple discipline work;
  • Preparation of technical memos, reports, construction specifications;
  • Field observation of construction activities;
  • Engineering analysis and calculations;
  • Performing geotechnical field investigations;

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering is required 
  • Master's degree is preferred
  • Must have passed the FE exam
  • 0-5 years of civil design experience with dams, embankment design, water, wastewater, roads, landfill, remediation, or mining projects. 
  • Experienced with standard analysis programs, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft office programs, and surface water management programs desired. 
  • GIS and modeling is a plus 
  • Extensive field time expected with project durations of 2-3 weeks at a time.
  • Willing to perform field work on geotechnical investigations and construction projects desired.
  • Must be willing to travel on assignments as necessary, including field assignments.
