As a Senior Environmental Project Manager, you will lead projects from concept through completion, with full ownership of both technical direction and outcomes. Working alongside GEI’s environmental, geotechnical, and design teams, you will play a key role in delivering practical, sustainable solutions for public- and private-sector clients.
 
This is a leadership role suited for professionals who bring experience, sound judgment, and the ability to guide both projects and teams with confidence.
 
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
  • Lead and deliver environmental due diligence reports, including Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Site Investigations and Detailed Site Investigations in accordance with the BC Environmental Management Act (EMA) and Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR, BC Reg. 375/96)
  • Lead remediation programs and site closure strategies in alignment with BC Ministry of Environment and Parks (BC ENV) requirements
  • Provide senior technical oversight for human health and ecological risk assessments, including both screening and detailed assessments
  • Develop and manage proposals, budgets, schedules, and technical deliverables, ensuring quality, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction
  • Supervise and coordinate subsurface environmental field programs, including soil, groundwater, and vapour sampling and monitoring
  • Manage Soil Relocation Notification and Excess Soil Management activities in line with BC ENV regulatory requirements
  • Mentor and support junior and intermediate staff, providing clear technical direction on risk-based and CSAP-related projects
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for continued work and growth
  • Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental responsibility across all project activities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering, Geology, Biology, Hydrogeology, or a related environmental field
  • Registered Professional (P.Eng., P.Geo., R.P.Bio., or P.Ag.) in good standing
  • 15–20 years of environmental consulting experience, including leadership of contaminated site and remediation projects
  • Strong knowledge of BC environmental legislation and standards, including the Environmental Management Act (EMA) and Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR)
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary environmental projects and leading project teams
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information
  • Proficiency with MS Office, environmental data tools, and project management systems
  • Valid BC driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
  • Physical and environmental requirements for this position are available upon request
Preferred Expertise
 
  • Registration or eligibility with the Contaminated Sites Approved Professional (CSAP) Society as a Numerical and/or Risk-Based Approved Professional
  • Experience acting as a senior technical reviewer or mentor on CSAP-supported projects
  • Experience with risk-based remediation, regulatory discussions, and site closure in British Columbia
