Your role at GEI.   
  
The Madison, Wisconsin office of GEI Consultants, Inc. (GEI) is seeking a Project Engineer with a background in civil, environmental, geotechnical., or water resources engineering.  Under supervision of senior staff, this individual will provide support to ongoing field and engineering design efforts.  Projects may include those related to solid waste landfill, environmental remediation, dams and hydropower facilities, and site development.    
  
Essential Responsibilities & Duties   
  • Support services in one or more of the following engineering disciplines: Water Resources (Hydrology and Hydraulics), Civil Engineering (Site Development), Geotechnical Engineering (Slope Stability, and Seepage, Foundations), and Solid Waste (Landfill Design and Construction Quality Assurance). 
  • Support the development of decision-making documents such as feasibility studies and cost estimates, design and procurement documents such as engineering drawings and specification packages, and tools for contractor bid evaluation and oversight.
  • Support site investigations and site assessments including soil borings and testing, environmental sampling, and technical oversight of subcontractors.
  • Collect geotechnical/environmental data at sites.
  • Support data management and geotechnical analysis, prepare technical reports, and assist in preparation of presentations and proposals to clients and regulators.
  • Provide quality control review of calculations and deliverables.   
  • Prepare proposals, develop project scope, budgets and schedules, and perform project management. 
Minimum Qualifications     
  • B.S. in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological, or Environmental Engineering; M.S. is a plus.   
  • E.I.T. or P.E. is a plus   
  • 3-8 years of previous professional experience in civil/geotechnical/environmental engineering and consulting; knowledge and familiarity with engineering design processes.   
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.   
  • Experience with spatial analysis and visualization software such as CAD, Civil 3D, and GIS.   
  • Experience with geotechnical analysis software, such as GeoStudio (SEEP/W, SLOPE/W or SIGMA/W) is a plus.   
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.   
  • Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight.   
  • 40 hr. HAZWOPER is a plus.   
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
