GEI is seeking a motivated senior environmental practitioner looking for a career opportunity geared toward growth in GEI’s Western NY market. The selected candidate will be a member of the seller-doer senior management team in our Buffalo and Ithaca, NY offices with direct responsibility to strategically grow business for our Western NY market. Our Buffalo and Ithaca locations currently offer a variety of environmental services including investigation and remedial design, sediment management, solid waste services, Federal CCR Rule compliance, Brownfield development, and litigation support. Buffalo and Ithaca staff also provide geotechnical and structural engineering, ecological, and dams services for Energy, Industrial, Transportation, and Water Resources clients located across the country. Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assist with growing GEI’s Western, NY practice by providing environmental, geotechnical, ecological, water resources, and/or civil design services and developing new and existing clients.
  • Coordinate business development activities within practice; identify key clients / business areas, growth strategy, and capture strategy.
  • Exemplify GEI’s commitment to technical excellence and client service.
  • Monitor and predict emerging trends and their potential impacts on clients, staffing, training, and business needs.
  • Participate in recruiting efforts and the identification and integration of new staff.
  • Lead proposal efforts, presentations, maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participate and encourage active participation in client-based professional organizations, and make presentations at industry events.
  • Support technical, financial and client relationship aspects of a variety of projects with a geographic emphasis in Western NY.
  • Serve as a role model for leadership, company culture, and values.
  • As applicable, contribute to GEI’s Great Lakes Strategic Initiative (dams and levees, green and traditional wastewater/storm water infrastructure, and coastal resilience).

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in a related discipline. M.S. preferred.
  • Professional registration or certification in related discipline.
  • At least 10 years progressive experience in relevant environmental projects.
  • Seller-Doer looking for the right company to grow your career and practice area with an established network of clients and contacts, and a successful track record in business development.
  • Collegial team builder with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Broad local/regional understanding of discipline needs and emerging trends.
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to GEI branch offices and client sites as required. 
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
