We are seeking an Office/Field Engineer to provide technical, administrative, and contract support for heavy civil infrastructure construction projects, including pipelines, pump stations, tanks and reservoirs, dams, levees, and groundwater well facilities. This position supports the Construction Manager by managing project documentation, cost tracking, schedule coordination, and contract compliance throughout construction.
 
Essential Responsibilities & Duties 
  • Support construction management activities from preconstruction through project closeout.
  • Review and process RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and technical correspondence.
  • Maintain contract documents, drawings, specifications, logs, and project files.
  • Track construction quantities, pay items, and assist with contractor pay applications.
  • Assist in evaluation and documentation of change orders, extra work, and claims.
  • Maintain cost records, budget tracking, and progress reporting.
  • Support schedule updates, milestone tracking, and progress measurement.
  • Coordinate with inspectors, contractors, designers, and agency staff.
  • Observe field activities and document compliance with contract documents.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, status reports, and correspondence.
  • Assist with punch lists, testing documentation, as-builts, and closeout packages. 
Minimum Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related engineering degree or comprehensive equivalent field experience.
  • Minimum 1–4 years of progressive experience supporting heavy civil construction projects.
  • Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Experience with infrastructure projects such as pipelines, pump stations, tanks, dams, levees, or wells.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to take and pass all GEI required construction safety related training courses.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience on public works, water/wastewater, flood control, or utility projects.
  • Familiarity with construction management software, cost tracking, and CPM schedules.
  • Registered Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification in California.
  • Registered Certified Construction Manager in-Training (CMIT) through Construction Management Association of America.
