Payroll Specialist

Your role at GEI. 
 
As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for performing weekly/biweekly payroll processes in an accurate and timely manner. Flexibility, adaptability, collaboration and teamwork are a must in this fast-paced environment. 
 
Essential Responsibilities & Duties 
  • Responsible for assisting the Payroll Manager in a variety of activities. 
  • The primary focus will be to ensure the accuracy of time sheet entries each week. 
  • Process and reconcile payroll on a bi weekly basis including journal entry preparation
  • Maintain confidential employee files
  • Enter new hires into the time and attendance and make changes as necessary
  • Assist in creating weekly certified payroll/prevailing wage reports
  • Prepare various ad hoc reports in ADP Workforce Now
  • Assist Payroll Manager with preparation for annual accounting and 401k audit
Minimum Qualifications 
  • Good communications skills, strong attention to detail with ability to multitask,
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, self-motivated, ability to work under pressure.
Other Qualifications 
  • Multistate payroll experience preferred
  • Experience with Union and Canadian payroll a plus but not a requirement
  • Knowledge of payroll federal, state and local tax regulations
Computer Skills  
  • Microsoft Office experience is required. (ie Excel pivot tables)
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now Payroll Software
  • Experience with BST or other ERP system is a plus
