GEI is looking for a junior level highly motivated junior-level Environmental Geologist / Scientist / Engineer to join us in our growing Atlanta, Georgia office.  Technical tasks include completion of environmental due diligence, preparation of work plans, development and implementation of environmental investigations and remedial strategies, review and interpretation of data, regulatory reporting, and preparation of associated permit applications.  
 
Essential Responsibilities & Duties 
  • Under supervision of senior staff, the candidate will work on a variety of environmental investigation, remediation, reporting and managing projects throughout the region. 
  • Candidates will coordinate and conduct environmental site assessments with tasks including soil borings, monitoring well installation, soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, ambient air, and soil vapor sampling. 
  • Candidates will work with a team of individuals supporting the field work, management, and administrative side of many projects. 
  • Candidates will coordinate and provide technical oversight to subcontractors, including documenting construction activities and reviewing project specifications. 
  • Candidates can expect to perform data management and analysis, perform geologic interpretation or engineering calculations, and prepare correspondence and reports. 
  • This position has a significant field component. Travel and overnight travel is required. Temporary assignment to a local remediation project site is also possible. Candidates should be prepared to work in inclement conditions year-round. 
Professional Skills and Attributes 
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and organization skills. 
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Teams. Experience with GIS, CAD, MS Project, and other technical analysis software is a plus. 
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively and in a fast-paced dynamic work environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical judgment, and problem-solving capabilities. 
  • Ability to be adaptive, creative, and bring inventive solutions to projects and problems. 
  • Willingness to learn new skills and build partnerships with clients and colleagues. 
  • Strong work ethic with a positive attitude and commitment to producing quality work. 
Minimum Qualifications 
  • B.S. in Geology, Environmental Science, Civil, Chemical, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering, or related field. 
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience. Previous experience/internship in environmental engineering consulting is a plus. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed. 
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training is a plus. 
  • Ability to pass a TSA background check. 
  • Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol testing. 
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s license.
