Product Manager, Specialty Flooring

This critical role within GCP will drive the overall strategy, revenue and profitable growth for the Specialty Flooring segment in North America. The Regional Product Manager will be responsible for a set of products and work in conjunction with the local sales resources to increase share for existing products and launch new products and systems within the segment. A key part of the role will be to insure that the value of each product is well understood by the organization and the market. The individual will have monthly, quarterly and annual reviews with management to update the progress of this effort and identify any opportunities to exceed, or barriers in achieving, the segment’s goals. He/she will also work closely with functions in the organization to improve product line profitability and market competitiveness.

Responsibilities

Product Line Strategy, Execution and Leadership

  • Execute the regional market plan for products in the region; including price strategy, aligned with the global strategy, and updated on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Fully understand market dynamics and customer needs - report on product performance vs. competition, pricing, product revenue and market position by product and customer
  • Monitor the competitive environment, including product offerings and operational capabilities
  • Support the operating group in the development of Operating and Strategic Plans

 Deliver On Regional Business Unit Objectives

  • Work with R&D to support the development of new products, programs and services for the specific to growing the business in differentiating in the market place
  • Support the development and execute launch plans which includes sales, customer and product training
  • Recommend cost reduction measures to optimize profitability
  • Ensure the product quality is consistent and that products meet specifications in order that the maximum revenues can be generated
  • Understand the market demand for the products at both the market and customer level, and develop tools to support sales to drive product acceptance
  • Optimize margins on product line with cross functional working groups; Operations, Supply Chain, R&D and other functions

Drive Product Growth and Meet Revenue Targets

Work with Marketing Communications to develop promotional programs and sales tools; manage budgets for these activities

  • Develops training packages and train the selling organization and key customers on the value of the our products
  • Develop and communicate effectively technical service support and product performance literature
  • Develop and implement training programs for sales tied to new product introductions
  • Up to 30% travel required.

  • 5-10+ years of experience, a significant part should be in a marketing, product management, technical service or commercial role

  • Expertise in a wide range of marketing practices and tools including project management and commercialization
  • University degree in a technical or business discipline, graduate degree preferred
