The Head of Talent role at TMG is a new role focused on scaling and building capability in a growth-focused, established professional services business.  As a key leader at TMG, the Head of Talent will design and drive TMG’s people strategy to capture the full market opportunity.  The role will focus on acquiring and developing best-in-class talent that spans across client development and service delivery within the context of TMG’s business strategy, designed to deliver on the organization’s employee value proposition. This role is preferably based out of our NYC Headquarters with a hybrid schedule.

 

The Head of Talent will be focused on executive recruitment, onboarding, and development, helping to build teams that deliver the highest level of service to our diverse client base, from F100 companies to organizations in private equity markets.  The ideal candidate has a strong client-orientation, experience scaling growth businesses, brings a strategic mindset, and has a hands-on approach, drawn from experience in similar environments and/or best practices leading in corporate environments.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Executive Recruiting and Onboarding: Play the lead executive recruiting role for TMG, developing and implementing a recruitment strategy that aligns with the company’s high-growth goals, including a clear process for identifying, sourcing, and attracting top talent at senior levels.
    • Successfully lead recruitment of senior level leaders for TMG, ensuring seamlessness of sourcing and recruiting process, as well as alignment of hires with role scorecards, cultural principles and talent brand.
    • Develop and manage a robust onboarding strategy to ensure all new hires are effectively and efficiently engaged and productive.
    • Optimize TMGs EVP/talent brand, in alignment with Council Advisors Communication leader to support recruitment and engagement goals.
    • Establish metrics for recruitment success, build a strong employer brand, and create a streamlined candidate experience.

 

  • Talent Development: Design a talent development framework that includes pathways, and leadership development to support growth and retention.
    • Develop and launch meaningful career pathways to upskill current employees and prepare future leaders, with an emphasis on continuous learning, mentorship and performance management.

 

  • Talent Analytics: Establish a data-driven talent analytics dashboard for recruitment, onboarding, and development to optimize organization development strategies. 

 

  • Employee Engagement and Retention: Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and improve retention across the organization.
    • Work closely with leadership to identify key drivers of employee satisfaction and create programs that foster a positive work culture and support long-term retention.
    • Analyze employee feedback and turnover data to recommend and execute initiatives that improve employee experience and reduce attrition.

 

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Strategy: Drive the development and execution of TMG's DEI initiatives within the recruitment, talent development, and retention strategies.
    • Partner with leadership to ensure DEI goals are integrated into all talent practices, promoting an inclusive culture that attracts diverse top talent.
    • Implement measurable DEI objectives, track progress, and regularly report on outcomes to ensure alignment with company values and long-term diversity goals.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:
We hire great people, regardless of any one specific qualification. However, ideal qualifications include:

 

  • Executive Recruitment Expertise:
    • Deep experience in executive recruitment, particularly at senior levels (C-suite, Managing Directors, etc.).
    • Ability to develop and execute recruitment strategies aligned with business growth and talent needs.
    • Strong sourcing and talent attraction skills, with a focus on aligning hires with cultural principles and organizational goals.
  • Onboarding & Talent Integration:
    • Expertise in developing robust onboarding strategies, ensuring seamless integration and productivity of senior hires.
    • Ability to design and implement effective employee onboarding experiences.
  • Leadership Development:
    • Experience designing and implementing leadership development programs.
    • Strong understanding of career pathways, mentorship programs, and performance management systems.
  • Strategic Mindset:
    • Ability to align HR initiatives with overall business goals and strategies, supporting both growth and organizational success.
    • Experience in scaling high-growth businesses while maintaining a strong organizational culture.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making:
    • Proficiency in establishing and leveraging HR metrics and analytics dashboards to drive recruitment, onboarding, and talent development.
    • Experience using data to optimize HR processes, improve efficiency, and track key performance indicators.
  • Change Management:
    • Experience in leading change management initiatives, especially related to talent management and organizational development.
    • Ability to support the business through periods of growth and transition.
  • Talent Brand & Employer Value Proposition (EVP) Management:
    • Proven experience in optimizing and communicating an organization’s EVP to attract top talent.
    • Experience building and enhancing the employer brand to improve talent engagement.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Ability to analyze and recommend improvements to HR processes, ensuring efficiency and alignment with business goals.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills to drive HR initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Proven ability to work closely with other executives and the HR team to develop and implement HR strategies.
    • Ability to collaborate across functional areas to align talent strategies with business needs.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field is required.
    • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, Master’s in HR Management, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • At least 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with significant time spent in executive recruiting, leadership development, and talent management.
    • Demonstrated success in high-growth professional services environments or similar sectors.
    • Experience in a senior HR leadership or talent role, with responsibility for strategic HR functions across recruitment, development, and performance management.
    • Prior experience working with executive teams and boards in a strategic HR capacity is highly desirable.
  • Certifications:
    • HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR, CIPD) are preferred but not required.
    • Certifications in leadership development or coaching would be an asset (e.g., ICF, coaching certifications).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Familiarity with performance management systems and employee engagement tools.
  • Leadership & Communication:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence and engage with senior leaders and stakeholders.
    • Strong leadership presence, capable of motivating teams and driving results.
  • Cultural Competency:
    • Experience in managing a diverse workforce and aligning HR strategies with a multi-market talent pool.
    • Ability to foster an inclusive and collaborative work environment.

TMG provides a competitive base salary, benefits and bonus package for our employees and new joiners. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for new joiners for this role is $230,000 - $270,000. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to an individual's experience and expertise.
