We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape the future of Funding Circle. As a product team, we are moving beyond a single product to a comprehensive multi-product experience across web and native mobile platforms. We are evolving our shared design language to meet this challenge, with a collective focus on elevating our native mobile app presence.
This isn't just about "doing UI." It's about taking ownership in a squad that is embracing a native-first mindset. You will be a key player in a team that values a lean, pragmatic approach. We don't believe in rigid dogma; instead, we adapt our process to fit the specific problem we're solving. The role
- Own and adapt the process: Lead end-to-end design projects, tailoring your approach to the challenge at hand. You know when to run a full sprint and when to just sketch and ship.
- Drive Native Craft: Create elegant, systematic UI and maintain our design systems. You will be a champion for native mobile excellence, ensuring our iOS and Android experiences feel intuitive, responsive, and platform-appropriate.
- Think Strategically: Use diagrams, user flows, and wireframes to untangle complex problems. You’ll ensure every pixel pushes both user needs and business goals forward, with a sharp eye for mobile-first workflows.
- Collaborate Closely: Work side-by-side with PMs, Analysts, and Engineers. We don't work in silos, and you'll speak the language of native mobile developers to ensure your designs are feasible and performant.
- Champion the User: Plan and conduct user research/testing to validate your hypotheses. You’ll be the voice of the customer in every room, understanding the unique contexts in which business owners use our mobile tools.
- Influence the Culture: Pitch your ideas effectively and help mentor the wider team on design best practices and native platform evolution.
What we’re looking for
- End-to-end Autonomy: You have a portfolio that proves you can take a vague problem and turn it into a shipped native product.
- Native Mobile Expertise: You possess a deep understanding of native platform design patterns and UI. You know when to leverage common patterns and when to innovate.
- Pragmatic & Lean: You are comfortable with Lean UX and moving fast. You treat process as a toolkit, not a checklist—adapting your methods to deliver value without getting bogged down.
- Systematic Thinking: You know your way around a Design System and can produce UI that is scalable and consistent across both web and native environments.
- Figma Mastery: You are efficient, organized, and capable of building interactive, high-fidelity prototypes that accurately represent native transitions and interactions.
- UX Depth & UI Craft: You are a full-stack designer. You have a deep command of UX methodology and interaction patterns. Crucially, you have the visual skill to translate robust solutions into elegant, appealing UI that thrives on small screens.
- Communication Skills: You can articulate the why behind your design decisions—including why a specific native pattern was chosen over a generic one—to stakeholders and engineers alike.
- Experience designing for fintech or complex B2B mobile apps.
- Knowledge of mobile accessibility standards.
- Experience creating appealing UX copy or conducting your own deep-dive user research.
