School Counselor (Part-Time 6-8 Grade)
Part-time | Brockton, MA

How you’ll be there for students:
Be their advocate, difference maker, and mentor.
  • Advocate, Guide, and Support: As a school counselor, you will advocate for students, providing individual, small group, and classroom guidance. Your focus will be on addressing academic, emotional, behavioral, and developmental issues to promote enhanced school functioning, with the consent of parents.

Design and Implement Support Programs

  • Counseling Services: Provide counseling sessions tailored to individual students or groups, focusing on various issues that affect school performance and well-being.
  • Consultation and Collaboration: Work closely with parents, classroom teachers, the school principal, and other school personnel to maximize the effectiveness of services.

Provide Expertise and Support

  • Learning Assessments: When requested and appropriate, conduct learning assessments to examine students' learning styles, strengths, and weaknesses. Share insights with school personnel and parents to better understand a child's academic performance and determine the need for further referrals.
  • Resource Consultant: Serve as a resource consultant for parents and school personnel, assisting in locating community services to meet the needs of individual students or families.

Team Collaboration and Compliance

  • Supervision Participation: Engage in regular supervision sessions with the Program Supervisor.
  • Paperwork and Reporting: Complete all required paperwork accurately and promptly, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed about current changes and trends in the field of school counseling.

Additional Responsibilities

    • Assessment Interpretation: Provide learning assessments to determine achievement, visual-motor, and cognitive abilities. Interpret and share these results with parents and appropriate school personnel.
    • Policy and Procedure Knowledge: Be well-versed in all rules and procedures as established by the Company's Counseling Policy and Procedure Manual, the funding source, and the individual school.
  • Candidates for this position must be able and willing to conduct their work both in person as well as virtually, based on the requirements of their state, program or client, with or without reasonable accommodation

What we’ll need from you:
The positive, enthusiastic occupational therapist we seek has these qualifications.

REQUIRED:

  • Massachusetts State certified school counselor or school social worker.
  • Masters degree. 

PREFERRED:

  • Experience in a middle school setting is preferred.
