The Opportunity

The Job Coach will provide specialized support to students with special needs, helping them develop the skills necessary for successful employment and transition into the workforce. This role involves collaborating with educators, families, and local businesses to create meaningful work experiences tailored to each student’s strengths and interests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Individualized Support: Develop personalized job coaching plans for students, focusing on their unique skills, interests, and goals.
• Skill Development: Teach essential job skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management, through hands-on experiences.
• Job Placement: Identify and establish partnerships with local businesses to create internship and job opportunities for students.
• On-the-Job Training: Provide on-site support and guidance to students during their work placements, ensuring they meet job expectations and maintain a positive work environment.
• Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure a coordinated approach to each student’s vocational goals.
• Monitoring Progress: Regularly assess and document students’ progress, adapting coaching methods as needed to ensure success.
• Advocacy: Advocate for students’ needs and rights in the workplace, fostering inclusive environments that support their employment.
• Workshops and Training: Organize and lead workshops on job readiness skills, resume writing, and interview preparation.
• Community Engagement: Promote awareness and understanding of the capabilities of individuals with special needs within the local business community.
• Bus Driver: Must be able to get a bus driver license to be able to transport students in the community.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with special needs, preferably in an educational or vocational setting.
• Bachelors preferred, Associates required 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, families, and employers.
• Knowledge of job development and coaching techniques.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude toward individuals with diverse abilities.
