About Us
The High Road Academy of Howard Academy is operated by Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI). SESI Schools provide specialized education programming for K-12 students who require additional educational and positive behavioral supports to overcome challenges that impede success in a traditional school setting.
The Opportunity
The Reading Interventionist will be responsible for working with students individually and in small groups to deliver intensive reading interventions and remedial supports. They will track educational progress in the area of reading, monitor student behavior, and communicate with parents. Every child deserves to reach their full potential and we’re looking to hire an exceptional Reading Interventionist who will play an essential role in fueling student success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties as assigned.
· Implement varied phonics and reading comprehension interventions including, but not limited to, Orton Gillingham; S.P.I.R.E; Wilson Reading System; Visualizing & Verbalizing; & Strategies to Achieve Reading Success (STARS).
· Track student progress via data sheets & anecdotal notations.
· Maintain a consistent schedule of reading intervention sessions weekly.
· Collaborate with the classroom teaching staff regularly to discuss progress & additional potential phonics and/or reading supports.
· Utilize behavior support and intervention strategies.
· Implement de-escalation techniques, if necessary, to maintain the safety of students and staff.
· Supervise students and ensure they are always monitored, including to and from appropriate locations within the school
· Light lifting, walking, and/or climbing stairs may be required
Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree required
· MSDE Teaching Certification/License preferred
· Experience implementing phonics & reading comprehension interventions preferred.
· Experience working with youth preferred.
