What we’re seeking:

We are seeking an innovative engineering manager to lead a high-customer-impact application development team. In this role, your duties will include leading multiple global agile teams to drive the full software development lifecycle for applications in the portfolio. You will also be responsible for partnering with business and IT stakeholders to keep them informed on progress and aligned on the deliverables.

The engineering manager is a transformational servant leader with responsibilities as a people and team, solution and execution, and organizational enabler.

In this in-person role, you will be required to report to our Dallas, TX, location to complete your work responsibilities.

 
What we need in you:

To be successful in this role you will need strong interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills coupled with a keen attention to detail. Technically, we need a people leader with a background in engineering who has experience in an agile environment so you can help drive this team forward and make a positive impact to the organization.

 
What you’ll do:
  • Manage a team responsible for the delivery and execution of technical deliverables, including but not limited to APIs, Gateway proxies, and Integrations driving alignment to Agile best practices.
  • Continue to drive team progression towards self-actualized, high-performing, global teams working across time zones.
  • Create a diverse, equitable, inclusive, collaborative, and supportive team environment, helping the team adapt to changes.
  • Create work patterns that enable teams to maintain a consistent pace of delivery, protecting them from overallocation, and growing the team to meet portfolio demand through fast and effective hiring and retention practices.
  • Advocates and drives adoption of Agile practices to drive innovation and optimize velocity and quality, setting standards for development, test, and release practices, leveraging automation and CICD pipeline, and ensuring security policies and adherence to standards. 
  • Creates metrics analysis to measure performance and drive continuous improvements that yield improved velocity and quality.
  • Partners with Agile COE to drive alignment to Agile best practices and KPIs.
  • Creates a strategic organizational structure and updates capacity plans quarterly to meet immediate or long-term needs, identifying and clearly communicating solution or resource risks or issues, and partnering with appropriate parties to drive possible mitigations. 
  • Proactively identify top talent, growth and/or promotion opportunities, compensation, and recognition actions.
  • Timely and effectively manage low performers, looking to motivate and leverage areas of strength, but also ensuring accountability if there is no change.

What background you should have:
  • Combination of a bachelor’s degree or certifications related to software development and/or technical leadership in a scaled agile environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a people leader working in an Agile delivery model, demonstrating excellent and proactive verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience working with teams that are spread out globally across time zones and cultures.
  • Hands-on knowledge of full stack engineering in prior/current roles. Exposure to microservices, public cloud, and DevOps practices preferred.
  • Experience in the Telecom industry preferred.
